The Medaryville / White Post Twp. Fire Department invites you to the 28th Annual 'Crane Cruise' bike ride. Medaryville is located on US Highway 421 in Northwest Indiana.

The ride will take place along paved back roads of rural Pulaski and Jasper counties, past fields of feeding Sandhill Cranes.

The ride will begin and conclude at the Medaryville Fire station. Ride lengths will vary from 14 miles to 50 miles. Lunch will be served at the Medaryville Fire Station for all riders. Our rides features well stocked SAG stops with various fruits and homemade snacks.

Following the ride at dusk, the star attraction: the return of thousands of noisy sandhill cranes that are returning from their feeding activities to their nightly resting grounds at the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Refuge. Be sure to bring your binoculars for this truly awe inspiring spectacle.

WHERE
The Crane Cruise bicycle ride, sponsored by the Medaryville / White Post Twp Fire Department, is held at Medaryville Fire Station which is located in the town of Medaryville, Indiana. Medaryville is located on US Highway 421, 50 miles south of the Michigan City and 50 miles north of Lafayette.

WHEN
Registration opens at 8:00 am on Saturday, October 10. Registration will be open till 2:00 pm. All times are Eastern Daylight Time.

WHO
Riders under 18 years of age may participate in the Crane Cruise, only if accompanied by an adult.

COST
The early registration fee (until September 19) for the Crane Cruise is $30 for individuals and $80 for families. Register soon for the lowest price. The full price schedule is on the registration page.

ROUTES
Riders will have a choice of 14, 25, and/or 50 miles over flat and paved rural roads past fields of feeding Sandhill Cranes. The 50 mile route runs next to Kankakee River and includes one of our most popular SAG stops at Dunns Bridge, which includes roasting hot dogs on a camp fire.

MAPS
The ride maps are in color with a high level of road detail. The maps are supplemented with downloadable cue sheets, GPX Track files (GPS route data) and TCX Course files (GPS route data). Printed maps will be provided at registration. The cue sheets, GPX and TCX files must be downloaded. The route map, cue sheets, SAG distances and GPS files are available in "Maps and Routes" page.

SAGS
Well stocked SAG stops will be provided along the bicycle route. Their location are clearly marked on the maps. Crane Cruise is known for great SAG food including fruits, homemade goodies, and drinks and friendly people. Please make sure that you and your bicycle are well off the road and do not cause congestion at SAG stops.

FACILITIES
Restrooms will be available at Medaryville Fire Station, Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife Area, and each of the SAG stops.

MEAL
Donuts and muffins will be available at Medaryville Fire Station. Food service will start at 11:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. If you are riding a longer distance make sure you start early enough to return to the Fire Station by 4:00 pm. The menu will include Beef Hot Dogs, Beef Chili Dogs, and Smoked Sausages (with optional Sauerkraut) as sandwiches and Vegetarian Vegetable, Beef Vegetable, and Chili as soups. Along with plenty of homemade desserts and hot and cold drinks will also be available.
