On Saturday, September 16th, London Kentucky will host a one-day off-road bicycle tour in the beautiful Daniel Boone National Forest. This bike tour will be complete with well stocked rest stops, SAG support and an after-ride meal. There will be several distances to choose from, ranging from 11 miles to 47 miles.
The trails are non-technical and consist of mostly rolling hills. The trails are packed gravel US Forest Service roads, which are perfect for mountain bikes, cycle-cross bikes, fat-tire bikes, gravel bikes or even road bikes with wider tires. Over 95% of this tour will be deep within the National Forest.
The Backpack Offroad Cycling Tour is a fundraiser for The Backpack Club Inc., which is a non-profit charity that is dedicated to feeding the children of Laurel County. Packet pickup will begin at 7am and the tour will officially begin at 8am. Cyclists are asked to be finished by 3pm. The course will begin with 2 miles of shaded paved road before entering gravel USForest Service roads. Participants can make their tour as short or as long (up to 47 miles) as they like. There will be 3 well-stocked rest stops. Cyclists who visit all 3 rest stops will receive a playing card at each rest stop. The cyclist with the best poker hand will receive be awarded a gift from the Backpack Club
