Here's what you've been waiting for...The Flat 50 Plus Bike Tour is a "GO" for June 27, 2020.
Now let me yell this before the details:
"YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER ONLINE BEFORE JUNE 24TH AT MIDNIGHT. THERE WILL BE NO "DAY OF RIDE" REGISTRATION." We are limited to 250 people, with 25 of those being reserved for staff & volunteers. So there will be only 225 open registration spots. 51 have already been taken. That leaves 174.
Now here's the details...We will be following the State of Indiana Stage 4 Guidelines. They are scheduled to take effect June 14th. You know the drill...social distancing, so no mass start. Check-in when you get there, so we know you're on the routes. You should start your ride somewhere between 7:00 am & 10:00 am. Support for the ride ends at 4:30 pm.
Bring your own face mask if you need to use it. Sanitize your hands at all SAG stops, without your ride gloves on. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be provided. If you want a ride shirt, order it online during registration before June 21st at midnight. Extra shirt quantities will be very limited and must be credit/debit card only. No cash will be exchanged.
All food and snacks will be individually packaged. So our wonderful SAG stops will not be as glorious as usual, but will still provide the fuel. Someone will dispense the water or Gatorade into the container you will hold. Do not touch the spigots or allow your container to come into contact with the spigots on the coolers. We will have a Bluegrass band at the lunch stop in Geneva. Look for everything to be held outdoors, rain or shine.
The ride START is at the Madison Plaza in Downtown Decatur, Indiana. Please park in the parking lots directly to the east of the Plaza, next to the St.Mary's River or around the courthouse square. Please walk your bikes when on the plaza area. Yes, we will make sure the restrooms are open at the plaza. Sorry about last year. Pay attention to the SAG stop arrangements. They may be slightly different. The Geneva SAG food line may be on the front porch of the house, so you can enter one side and leave from the other. Please be patient.
A lot of changes, to the ride and the volunteers, are due to pandemic related recommendations. We have received approvals to use the facilities & properties from the City of Decatur, IN, Willshire, OH, State of Indiana, Limberlost Historical site, and Monroe 4-H buildings, based upon the guidelines and plans we have presented to them for the ride. Yes, the Slushie is still going to be available at the end of the ride.
Now the disclaimer...We reserve the right to cancel the ride up, and to the day, the ride is held, due to changes in the State of Indiana Health guidelines as they relate to the pandemic. Full refunds will be available if the ride is cancelled. Be safe. Now go get registered before someone takes the last spot.
