Make tracks to GOBA-20! This year's GOBA route pays homage to the history of the train systems while celebrating our special year. No doubt you've experienced riding on a rail-trail at least once in your bike travels. And you have undoubtedly thought about the trains and passenger service that formerly puffed along those rails, as you puff along the trails. While train service in this part of the world has declined over the years, we cyclists owe a lot to our forerunners in transportation. Join us on our 20th journey, including a special bicycle parade that we want everyone to participate in, a first-ever contest for unique rider numbers, a rolling terrain that won't leave you bored, and just maybe a ride on a train! All aboard for GOBA 2008! Highlights of this year's tour include • 5 days of cycling 45-60 miles from town to town and 2 days of optional loops • Terrain from gentle rolls to good hills... hillier than 2007 • Estimated mileage for the week: minimum of 250 to a maximum of 400 • Primitive tent camping at a mixture of fairgrounds, schools, and parks • Opening day bicycle parade with costume contest • Optional bus trips on Tuesday and Thursday (details & sign-up in March newsletter) • Services by The Bike Detail (watch newsletters for details and how to sign up • The traditional Song Contest Date: June 14 - 21, 2008 Distances: varies.
